quite a simple question really, i know i need to be looking at a minimum of 20x turnover and i have a 240l tank, now obviously with rock added and sand soon to be added i'm not going to have 240l of water but should i still make calculations on the original volume or just guess whats actually in there. if my maths is correct i'm looking at 4800 lph so say i round that up am i better getting 1 powerhead that pushes out say 5000 lph or 2 that push out 2500 lph each or do i round up even more and go for 6000 lph or will that create too much turbulence. i will initially be going with zoas and other soft corals due to lighting drawbacks that i have at the moment...... thanks in advance, kevin

2 are better than one. Flow really depends on corals. With those soft corals either would be fine. :good:

Ie rounding up to 6000 or going with 5000..

The more flow the better filtration.

They say that coral needs to have over 36x t/o but don't know how true this is as some coral dont like a lot of flow!

As your rightly say, it depends on the coral, so no, its not true, some want more, others less
