Fishy, buy a plug in timer. There only about a fiver from Argos, wickes, ikea etc and are simple little devices that do the job.
Just don't run an extension lead off them full of equipment as they're only usually rated at around 10 amps.

They'll happily run a lighting unit tho.

No need fishy. When I say equipment I mean your powerheads, heater, pump, skimmer etc. Obviously you can't have any of them switch off at any time, well saying that you could get away with just running your heater and powerheads for a few hours on their own but that would be it.
If you get a plug in timer then just plug in your 3 pin plug from your lighting unit into the socket in the timer and then your timer onto your extension lead or wall socket etc.
What I meant was you can't run an extension lead full of all your tank equipment off your timer as they're only designed for light loads and would simply burn out the contacts on the timer as a result. You'd be lucky to get a month out of it otherwise!

will denetly take pics of my powerhead postions today-i did hope to have enough salt to fill it up but was 0.3 under

this comes back literally just a few hours after cleaning it?

move the powerheads to the side walls of the aquarium and point them at the live rock, your flow is not going anywhere near the rocks.

i could try get them to the side walls, but not sure the lead will stretch enough.
aswell as putting lights on a timer and weekly waterchanges it should eventually go.

It will go in time but unless you create flow over the live rock its pointless having the powerheads and also by not creating flow over, through and around the rock the nitrification process will not be as good and you could end up with a Nitrate problem.
