Red Cap Oranda

No, to small to house the fish for life. Hillstream Loaches also require a different environment of fast flowing, cool, well oxygenated water with some broad flat surfaces which will support the micro organisms they eat. These conditions will not aid the Oranda which will be stressed by a fast current, finding it hard and tiresome to swim.

Generally is, but really you should start off with a minimum of 20 gallons. Fancy Goldfish can still reach 8-10", you imagine that in a 10g for life, abit to small. :)

It could work as a nice set-up for a group of one species of Hillstream Loaches though. :)

is a ten gallon good for a red cap? From the sources I have looked at, 8 inches is about what they get...good size?
and also...i was thinkin hillstream loach or somthing along those lines...
both in the same tank

Hi!
Yes I think a 10 gallon would be fine. I have a oranda red cap, black moor and 2 common goldfish in one
10 gallon and they are doing fine.

Do you know the commons will get as long as your 10g tank?

15g is about the minimum for an oranda. 20g seems to be perfect.

As for the common, I wouldn't advise keeping them in an aquarium. They are pond fish.

Commons need 30 gallons with 15-20 gallons for every additional. fancies require 20 gallon with 10-15 gallons for every additional fish. Your fish will not fully grow in a 10 gallon and the commons will out compete the fancies for food.

THAT is why I am in the process of setting up a 30 gallon tank!

Your fish won't fit in a 30g. You cant fit half your fish in a 30g. Look for a 75g or to re-home some fish.

You need a 80-100 gallon ideally and the fancies should be seperated from the commons. You can get a 30 gallon and keep the fancies indoors and build a pond for the commons would be best.

Yeah seriously, listen to them rl4400, when I first started, I was told I could keep commons and fancies together. It ended with the commons killing my black moor. He was injured too severely to save him.

Thats a shame silverrabbit its normally they starve to death before the commons attack the fancies, neither are nice ways to die.
