Realy Weird Story!

Yeah, but he's probably still a juvenile. IMO Synodontis are way cooler than Neons anyway. LOL

lol yer he is cool but them little thing just seem so wiked.. heheh but i need a name for my new accidental pet... any suggestions?

Felix (the catfish) for a boy and Bastet for a girl...I don't think that you can sex them at this size.

I once had an S. eupterus named Hoover (like the vacuum)...

Could he/she be a Synodontis schoutedeni catfish?

Synodontis schoutendeni example 1

Synodontis schoutendeni example 2

Possibly the long small fin behind the dorsal fin in these examples would help to decide or not, OZeN?

(although the prominence (height, sharpness) of the front-most spines of the dorsal of yours make it seem different from the schoutedeni maybe?)

it looks like a match for me.. mine has darker colours but yer its the same type of fish...

Oh, interesting, I did see a different variation that had darker colors that was different from the schoutedeni but I skipped it because your picture looked so chocolatety brown...

It could just be that his colors have darkened due to the stress of his wild ride. Schoutedeni was my first guess as well...

but he is coming out from under the tree a ot more and he is spending a lot of time swinging upside down and under my filter where hes found a cool little hiding spot. he does seem to like it... and seems much happier then at first..

omg how lucky are you, a fab little freebee with a plant :hyper:

well done, hope he does well.

i dont know anything about this fish but im assuming it is some sort of algae eater.

today i bought these frozen algae cube things (it says on the packet green plankton but the man at the shop said something about algae cubes) so they might be an idea of what you can feed it until the algae gathers a little.

again i might be completely off the mark here by assuming its an algae eater but if it is these might be an idea.

PS what is the common name of this fish cos it does look good.

PPS well done on the free fish OzeN. when life hands you a freebie take it (thats what i would do)

They are omnivorous and will eat most anything. There are common names for a few of the Synodontis species (upside-down catfish, False upside-down catfish, Cuckoo Catfish) but for the most part they are just called Synodontis Cats...

its a brilliant little freebie and im realy fallin in love with it.. my first tropical fish.. me and nosoup4you are trying to think of names for it.. hehe.. i need to sex it first which i dont think is going tobe that easy lol
