I once had a large Hawk smash into my enclosed porch window as he entered the porch. Then he smashed another one trying to get out. I chased him out with a stick. Surprising, no blood but lots of broken glass.

Nope. Not suspicious at all...

I saw cardinal tetras, a couple of different species of pencilfish, Crenicara filamentosa, some sort of Apistogramma.

No idea what the big cichlids or most of the tetras were.

Lots of fish in that area, but no aquatic plants, only a couple of tree seedlings.

You could wrap it in saran wrap or put it in a baggie and smash it with a hammer a few times

Is there anything effective than mortar and pestel?

Metronidazole & levamisol is so thick that it broke 2 pestel, the wooden one is the 3rd one
(It’s a poorly made stuff, sadly)

Might considered using a hammer instead

Does anyone have an idea?

Upgrade to one that’s made of marble. Or a small coffee grinder might make short work of it.

covering it with plastic wrap and hitting it with a hammer will probably tear the plastic to shreds, causing the powder to go every where and leaving pieces of plastic in your mix.

unfortunarely, using the pestle and mortar is a delicate process, it’s should be a few gentle taps down, then a circular motion to go round and round gradually breaking things down, if you’re breaking them, you’re pushing too hard. A harder and heavier material should help

I also thought of using a coffee grinder but it would have to be thoroughly cleaned first.

Cleaned first and after.

Also possibly replaced, as I’m not sure about the consistency of the pills that are trying to be crushed. If it’s so hard that is breaking wood pestle and mortars, it’s also possible it can ruin the blades on a grinder.

best solution would be marble or other hard stone pestle and mortar. But a coffee grinder would be a possible cheaper option if it’s not in the budget

Don’t you hate it when you just wanted to pull out the air stone from the aerating tube but you pull the whole thing breaks?

Am I the only one who struggles with this problems? Making me have to buy new air stone?
That's why I prefer the plastic multi-coloured airstones that you can take apart and put back together.

It just doesnt look nice in the tank

We don't drink coffee and I don't think it's cheap, hammer might be the greatest option here.

@Colin_T can you guide me on doing the "essay" things you're typing when you helping people around the forum?
