Random Discussion

I posted on the website for the Aquarist Society of Maryland and found two people who want some golden sailfin Molly fry. I have 34 born February 25. With these two individuals and my two lfs, I should be able to rehome most or all of the fry. The fry are beautiful and so are the adult forms.

I think it is time for a nap till something more exciting is noted.

It's no one's fault that you having nothing to note. We all hit periods like that. You can dig yourself out of it - try something challenging.

I picked up 10 Epiplatys annulatus females yesterday. I gave them their first in QT feeding, of freshly hatched artemia, and their bellies look a little too red. There's some inflammation there. I see no signs of Camallanus, but I'll make a decision on meds when the lights come on this morning.

For years, all my new fish were either wild caught or hobbyist bred, and I didn't have to deal with dodgy fish farm fish. It's very striking how often things pop up in quarantine.

I have a bunch of these with a trio of dario dario; i feed them a fair amount of bbs but i found the clown are just as happy with finely ground up fluval bug bite (though I'm sure they would eat other foods); the dario seem a bit more picky though i had hoped if they watched the other fishes they might get the message.

Just saw a line in a game that sort of struck me as a base need in attitude.

"We need to keep living our lives to the fullest even on the darkest of days."

I guess it struck me strong as it is pretty much how I live my life; I never have a bad day as I refuse to allow. The only difference between a good and bad day is attitude.

Say you wake up with a chest cold and feel down and miserable... Easier said than done but just tell yourself that a cold is a lot better than lung cancer. That is extreme but the general idea. Could any day be better? Of course. Could any day be worse? Of course. Just live life one day at a time and enjoy that you still have a life to enjoy. No, nothing is going on with my health. Just some random thinking.

No such thing as a bad day ... Just some days are better than others.

If you think otherwise ask the fella in yesterday's obit column.

Helped a neighbor in my apartments with his new electric trike. He couldn't figure out how to get the battery to charge. These electric bikes/trikes have a key lock to enable power and/or remove the battery. The key has to be in the 'on' position or all the circuitry is cut out.

Personally I don't like the trike he got. Ya, it was $400.00 USD less than mine but a lot of it really seems cheap. For instance the back basket is just a wire frame that actually mounts on the back frame with wire ties. My basket is solidly mounted with 4 bolts, larger and constructed with .75 and .5 inch steel rods and a wood slat bottom. The digital display also seems cheap and small compared to mine. While his DOES have a headlight it is just reflectors in the back. On mine the back has a real bright red light that gets even brighter when either the front or back brakes are applied. His battery is pretty much open to the elements while mine is in a waterproof case for protection. He paid $400.00 less but I think I may have gotten the better deal. :dunno:

LOL! I think I started something when I got my electric trike. There are now 2 electric bikes and 3 electric trikes in the apartments. Doesn't sound like a lot but my apartments have 50 units so the 5 electrics are actually 10% of the people.

<edit>
Slight correction. The basket on the neighbor's trike is actually bolted to mount the basket but still the 4 sides and bottom are held together with plastic wire ties while mine are welded. His basket just seems to me to be a problem waiting to happen.

One other thing is that the drive motor is on the front single wheel. On mine the motor is mounted on the back two wheels. Both have 4 inch wide tires but I end up with a total traction between the back two wheels of 8 inches while he only has 4 inches of traction. Normally I doubt that this is a big issue but have to figure that mine would do much better in unstable terrain such as sand or in bad weather conditions such as snow.

Linda is trying to talk me into electric bikes. I have no interest in pedals though. told her seems foolish to pedal my legs off just to give my bottom a ride. (just kidding before anyone takes umbrage).

Might as well try it - could be a shocking experience !

I got my driver's licence at 33 - I was a centre of the city person, and for 9 months of the year, bikes got me where I wanted to go. I was hoping to get back to it, but I live on a plateau, and not a large one. 100 m to the right, and I drop into a roller coaster of deep ravines. To the left, I have to climb a large long hill, then drop down just as far. Straight ahead is the ocean, and straight out back is woods.
All of this would be fine, even at my age, if my legs were in shape, but it isn't great for working my legs into where they need to be. So an electric bike appeals to get started. But then, would I need it? It seems like once I get into shape, I could do hills. Barring reincarnation, I'll never be 25 again, but they aren't mountains.
It's a temporary catch 22.

I've been wanting to switch from Spectrum to Blue Peak for Internet but the formal management would not allow Blue Peak in the building. I don't know this but they were so money hungry I would not be surprised if they had a kick back deal with Spectrum.

Today I found out that tomorrow the new management and Blue Peak have a meeting scheduled and it seems that she wants to let Blue Peak in. If this is so I will be switching to Blue Peak. Right now I'm paying Spectrum around $90.00/month USD for 400Mb/sec. With Blue Peak optical I would have 1Gb/sec for $55.00/month USD.

Hey a question... When I state a money amount I almost always use 'USD' to denote U.S. Dollars due to this site being very international. Does that actually help or does the dollar sign ( $ ) already cover that? :dunno:
