I've just popped outside to give my husband a hand with something in the garden and was almost deafened. There's an air show at the local airport and the Red Arrows are currently flying a couple of hundred feet overhead.

I watched something last night that amazed me. On one of the more obscure TV channels was a documentary about what goes on behind the scenes at the various locations owned by the Imperial War Museum in the UK

The IWM received something so incredible and is such an honour and priviledge to own. The item has been gifted on a permanent basis, it is the first ever piece to venture outside of the US.

It is a slice of hull taken in the 1950's by the US Navy from the wrecked USS Arizona.

To watch this piece arriving and being unboxed was breathtaking. It arrived mid 2021 and is on display now at the London IWM alongside other items from the ships, photographs, eyewitness accounts of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour on December 7th 1941

To watch the curators carefully unbox this emotive piece and mount it ready for display was incredible to see.

Everyone knows what happened that day, most have watched feature films, documentaries, seen photographs of what happened that day.......but to actually get close to what is a very large section of the ship, heavily damaged and corroded....brings it all home and makes it all very real.

For the USN to gift a section of such a history changing ship to a museum outside the US for the very first time and on a permanent basis, is an incredible honour and priviledge...and a worthy memorial to all those who lost their lives that day and throughout WW2.

was that your mustang?

That sucks

The only plus is mustang windscreens are quite common so shouldn't be too expensive to replace. Get a new one fitted when you can, never buy a secondhand one unless you absolutely have to.

Why is our dad driving your car anyway?

Because i can't really drive it, to keep it being used. Also it has better mileage than our nissan NV and sometimes uses it when its too far for his electric car

Mustangs are nice cars... Nice cars= expensive repairs (usually)

I mean at least the car was only 6000 but yeah. We still have to figure out why it started leaking in the middle of winter. All the seals are fine so its a mystery
