Rams

First of all I'm not actually sure if they are Cichlids not to mention new world ones.

Anyway I had 2 Golden Rams 1 of them died last night for some unknown reason (I've tested me water and apart from my PH being a little lower than usualy but nothing that should kill fish everythings normal), well I've been told that Rams are best kept in pairs or more as they get very shy n lonely if not. Is this true and if so do they have to be of the same breed or could I get a Royal Ram to keep her company?

i'd get another of the same breed to keep yours company. i had a tank with a single male bolivian ram and he was pretty shy, then i added a female bolivian ram and he immediately perked up and started asserting himself into the pecking order. since i've added her, his color has also gotten more vibrant.

oh, and you were correct, they are new world cichlids
