Hi,

my recently purchased Bolivians seem to have paired up. I bought four, and two had established neighbouring territories and kept each other well and truly out of each others territories. I came home yesterday to find them "together" in the corner territory of the male and they are still there today but getting more and more friendly! They are shimmying up each other a good 'un!

Only problem is, it looks like they've picked a bit of bogwood for their spawn but I can't see it from the front and the wall stops me from looking in the side of the tank!

Might do a cold WC this Sunday and some live food to see what may happen.

did you think they'd spawn out in the open in full view of predators? (humans must look like an exceptionally large fish 'swimming' past). of course they would pick somewhere secluded! my germans did the same. good luck! don't worry if they eat the eggs.. rams are known to do that until they get the process just right.. (maybe it's the fish version of birth control!)

Don't bother them too much. I did this with my first hrp spawn. Getting my phone behind the tank to take a picture... lol.

It unsettles them and they will probably eat the eggs. Just let them be and wait a few days. You will get to see the fry when they move them to a pit.

Congratulations btw :D

Thanks dude, yea I'm not expecting much from this batch, but very happy seeing as I've only been back into fishkeeping for 4 weeks! Good excuse now for a breeding tank huh?

Ooooooooooh Yes! :D

Look forward to seeing the updates, fingers crossed for a successful spawn! :)

They've spawned!! :hyper:
About 70 odd eggs on some bogwood! They had a mad afternoon of searching about the tank looking for a site I presume before returning to the original site and spawning.

Sorry to hear that mate. Same happend to me and i am now waiting on a new spawn. I am just not sure they will as they seem to have fallen out with each other :/
