Well, I went on a weekend long trip out of town, and Pearl decided he wanted to be where Mason was. Well, Mason won.

Masons pretty tore up, but it looks like he at least has a fighting chance for survival -- I figure judging by the little fishie body, that it happened on saturday, and he hasn't keeled over yet. So, heres hoping.

When I went to the fish store to pick up food for the babies, I found this little buddy. In the store, he looked more like a mustard gas (probably the lighting?) but camera picks it up as red wash. Either way, he is cute, and proving to be active and curious.

His current name is "Baby" out of lack of any other ideas.

I'm sorry to hear about Pearl... :( I'm sure that he will be missed...

Is Mason gonna pull through?

Also, those are great pics of Baby ;)

I love the one where he's in action and eating down on that piece of flake! At first glance, I thought he was sticking his tongue out... then I thought, do bettas have tongues? Then realized it was a flake!

Mason might or might not pull through. Hes active, begging for treats and acting like himself, but hes badly hurt. Hes got the drive to survive, and still has the heart to play with his next door neighbor.

(I'm afraid with how social mason is, if I remove him from a "social" setting, he'll get depressed and have no chance at all -- so I put the most "tame" one next to him so he could have company without flaring for a week on end.

All in all, he does seem to be doing well. I have hope for him.

And yeah, this new little buddy is adorable. Hes a show stopper -- a mutt, but with a boat load of personality.

I'll be introducing him to my belly slinker later so he can flare at his neighbor. Letting him settle and explore his house first. :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Mason. Poor little fellow... It does sound like he's striving for survival, which is always a good sign. If he wasn't active I would be worried. I agree, don't move him from what he is acustomed to. He may give up then...

Good luck!

Thanks, techno :)

Here is a picture of Mason as of 10 minutes ago. I figure hes been healing up for a day or two now, and seems happy go lucky.

He even displayed for the camera, bless his heart.

Awwww... he did get the crap beat out of him

Poor little guy! I'm sure he's tough and hope he does well in the next few days! Tell him I said to be strong ;)

:flex:
