Best to make it wider at the bottom , raising up in steps or an angle....makes the reef wall sturdier and allows more ledges for placing corals on then...

Drilling through the rock and sliding it onto acrylic rods will allow you to build up reef towers as well, or milliput it together to make arches ,etc....
