Anyone know if Anubias have to be in the ground or you can just put them in the tank and they’ll be fine like Java fern?

they will be fine, however if you put them on the ground the roots will bury in the substrate
i dont reccomend burying rhizome

Where is the rhimezone located ?
iu
this is the rhizome, the part where you can split the plant to propogate it. for the anubias it is just the stem

Ok thanks
you can smash the rhizome or the roots with a rock on top of them so it will help it stay in place
i used some crushed corals
just sprinkle some rocks on top of it

If you plant the rhizome it will rot, I think I’ve read on here they can float, I have mine super-glued to a large stone, and you can glue them to pieces of wood. Alternatively people tie them to rocks and wood.

This is how it looks now with some Java fern and Anubias.

I’m not a plant expert but I think that could do with being a little more “out” - keep an eye on how it’s doing.
yeah that is what i mean
the plant will get more drainage that way anyway (like flow), and it can absorb the flow's nutrients

It looks like you have Java ferns as well - they too have a rhizome which should not be covered. Look at the diagram in post #17 in this thread.
