Quick Question About My Diy Project

Okay I've just finished getting the supplies for my diy reactor and am in need of some assistance.

1. I don't have any bio-balls to put in so was wondering if I could use some spare ceramic noodles instead.

2. The lay out calls for everything to be sealed. So wanted to know how would I go about cleaning the reactor. Thanks in advance

you can buy bio bals from loads of lfs and you mention it has to be sealed you can seal it with a lid then unscrew when the maint is due
