Question (BOTM)

errm, I think we should all be thankful we have a BOTM contest at all ,they used to compete with the FOTM entries.

Now that you mention it, it would be a lot of extra work. Not to mention a little confusing for the users if they want to vote in all categories.

i really dont think it would be that much extra work...

i would do it.. but ill never be a mod..

but maybe there is a mod out there willing to spend the extra ... what maybe 30 mins a month ?

i voted for you in BOTM just so you know Itty, plakats are my favorite bettas and yours is a real stunner.

i also think that the finals from a catergory would put down on the plakats as they would lose out to the HM and CT's. still a great idea.

i think it should be SBOTM and PBOTM. or short and long finned.

i have to make a suggestion on this topic too,

I understand the need for breaking down the catagories of bettas, and I enjoy all of the fishies I see in this forum, but I also understand the work that goes into all of this too and like wuv said I think we are lucky to have our own catagory.

My suggestion on this though, cause I did vote for the BOTM last month, is maybe they shouldnt post whos fish it is not, only will that keep it from being a popularity contest but a welcomed suprise to the winner.

I think that if several pictures where displayed and everyone looked at them without knowing whos fish is whose then it might be a more level playing field.

just looked at FOTM for this month..

someone has 7 fish in it..

another has like 4..

its getting out of hand..

i hope BOTM never gets like that

if everyone was to put up 1 of their bettas the competition would be nuts..

there would be like 40 pics in each botm..

why not have individual categories?

HM/Delta

plakat/short finned

CT/DT

Females/veiltails

then the winners of all those face off in the finals?

everyone could submit 1 picture only.. NOT 1 for each category, but 1 period.

females and veiltails usually get overlooked... thats why they got their own category

i have to say something about this. ok when has there been a competition with more than5 of each kind of betta besides veiltail. It really wouldnt be a great competition if theres only 2 or 3 for each category for each month

I just want to add my thoughts on this...

I personally vote for the betta I like best, regardless of the quality of the picture or whether the owner is a friend of mine.

I think the problem is that the majority of voters on the forum (some of whom do not keep bettas) are attracted to long-finned bettas, as opposed to plakats or other short-finned types. The members who recognize the beauty of plakats may vote for them, but it is not a significant enough number to have a plakat win the competition.

I don't know if it is feasible to start another category or sub-category for plakats, but I support the idea.
