White Whale
Granola bar gone bad....
If not, then maybe they should have their own separate category because long and pretty "show-type" bettas will always beat out any short-finned betta.
I agree. I don't think I've ever seen a plakat/female win since I've been a member... Usually a male CT/VT/HM win, but then again... Where do you draw a line so that everyone's happy? Just to play devil's advocate: I don't think it's fair if it's separated like that. Then all betta types should be separated to their own categories. Then we would have PlaketOTM, CTOTM, VTOTM, HMOTM or do we break it down to MaleBOTM and FBOTM? (PS don't be mad at me because I make things more complicated )rollntider said:need to have a shortfinned catagory for the females/plakats/imbellis
because I dont believe a female has won it. I have a terrible pic of a female in the running, but looking at the bettas I have only seen like 2 females ever be in the contests. and very few plakats/imbellis
Well everyone is entitled to their opinion and I see yours. Also, it is not that I am mad, heck people can vote for whoever they want. But, I still stand with my opinion that it's a popularity (to an extent). I have been here for a while and I used to vote and nominate, but I don't do it as much anymore. A ex. of popularity in affect. Someone who has many friends on the forum they get a simple betta and heck 6 nominations. Then someone comes along very nice betta just awesome, but that person is a newbie or just someone who doesnt have many friends. Two things happen one they get the ohhhhhhhhhhhh thats a freaking nice betta, but no nominations or the just get two barely. Then comes the voting part, I have seen this too many times. All the bettas lined up there are two that are just nice no words to describe them, then there are the eh okay ones. Well you see the just okay getting all the votes and to top it off they post hey so and so I voted for you okay.Hoplesswfish said:I also would like to add that the BOTM contest is not a popularity contest. The people who are on here alot are very involved with there fish and it shows. They may even be breeders. I don't think it is fare to tell them they can't be in the contest because they diserve it to. I got mad about the contest before and then I realised the contest would not be fun if it was easy to win. The contest makes us all work and look harder for those special bettas. If we seperated it in to beginer and expert then people would argue about who belongs in whitch so sorry about the long thread but I think alot of people get mad about this and if you think about it this way you wont get mad. )
I'll agree. I don't participate in the BOTM contests because I realize I'm not very 'popular' , of course I'm a permanent fixture here BUT I don't socialize the way some do so IMO it's not even worth entering my bettas because I know the chatters will get all the votes. Just my opinion, not a stab at the chat crowd by any means. I prefer to endorse the BOTM contests and keep my distance at the same time. It's turned cliquey, which I hate.Synastic said:Well everyone is entitled to their opinion and I see yours. Also, it is not that I am mad, heck people can vote for whoever they want. Just My Two Cents.
I agree in theory, however, what about all the people who have beautiful bettas that weren't from an auction? Doesn't seem fair that I would enter a professional picture and others can't.wuvmybetta said:I think you should be able to enter the auction pic, since the betta is in your possesion.
