i continually read about people breeding different kinds of fish on all the different forums i frequent.

once you breed these fish what do you do with all of them? do you buy more tanks every time you fill one up with fish you have breed?
i can definatly see breeding some of the fish you like so you dont have to buy from the lfs, but what other purpose does breeding serve?

can someone explain this to me please?
thanks

Its just another part of the hobby, whenever i have had any fry i have swapped them for credit at the lfs.

>>> what other purpose does breeding serve?

In addition to CFC's answer, there is also research, and species maintenance.

I started out breeding for fun. I would give the fry to various pet stores in return for store credit. Now I have a wholesalers liscense and stock several stores with danios, and 3 types of angels. Ive also added bettas and guppie to my program but they wont be ready for several more months.

thanks i was just curious
Breading is probably the most fun part of the hobby sure i've only had 1 fry before, but I'd like to have more because of all the fun in it.
