My fish haven't had any babies in 4-6 months, my water stats are fine, have both males and females, (of the same type) and yet, I've yet to see any babies in my tank, the last time I had babies was with Big Mama before she died... her babies are about 5 months old now, and I haven't had anything since, I have 3 guppies (male and females) 2 female swords, and 2 mollies (male and female) I thought guppies were supposed to breed a lot, unless, mine are impotent? (is that the word I'm looking for?) I've yet to see my male guppy mate with my females,.....

I have no idea what the right word would be for a guppy that does not breed. I have never seen that happen but there are guppies I have never owned in lots of other people's tanks. I assume that the water is appropriate for them, they are well fed and the tank is well maintained with plenty of cover for fry. In that situation, only predation will usually account for a lack of visible fry.

Ya, but the thing that is weird to me, my fish don't even show signs of being pregnant, they're all skinny, (well normal size) no big stomachs or anything, but yet no babies at all... it confuses me a lot.. lol

Where did you get your guppies from? If you bought them from a LFS, God only knows how old they are or what's wrong with them. I always have to bite my hand when I go in for dog food and remind myself that the fish in Petco (and most other chain pet stores) are pretty much all culled rejects looking for an easy buck from people who think they're getting a steal. Every now and again you might really find something spectacular that was just what you were looking for all along, but in most cases, their origin can explain a lot about their health and habits. At least that'd be my first guess.

Second guess makes me wonder about the male finnage. How long are the male's fins? Maybe they're too long and they've lost basic function of their sex organ? Or .. they could just be leading an alternative lifestyle XD. I had a male for a few years that was more interested in my male mollies then any of the females what so ever.

I know my two female guppies will look like they're about to pop, so I put them in the trap and the next day I turn the lights on and they've taken massive bowel movements and no longer look squared off. >___>

Ya, my male has a long tail fin, but that's about it, I beleive I either got him at PetCetera (which went out of business, not enough customers)
or I got him at PetSmart, which is always popular, hmm, yes, I'm not quite sure, but I've bought fish from both stores before, and they've had babies, so maybe just his sex organs aren't working properly? That's the only other thing I can think of, but then it makes me wonder, 'cause I also have a male molly, with a bunch of females (Big Mama's babies) before she died, they're 5-6 months old now, and the oldest looks pregnant, she gets really squared off, then the next day she's skinny again, then big again, then skinny, and it goes back and forth, she eats fine and everything, so I don't know what the problem could be.... :/
