Question About Naming Shops.

C'mon Minnnt stop being a pain tonight
the reason the name is banned is clear in this case... you just made it so.. because people keep coming on here and throwing the name around when it just isnt necessary. For the sake of preventing arguments and people taking it out on here whenever they get bored or just feel like it.
We dont go elsewhere and start referring to TFF and how much better it is and going on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it, disrupting the forum and causing as much trouble as possible. You need to make a choice if you cant be unbias. You are welcome here Minnnt but you can't complain against the rules that have been in place for years, even if not enforced because it was less urgent and not expect consequences.

Hmm, you know i respect that you have sensibly plotted the best way forward in terms of a review section to
allow unbiased opinions for stores etc you are allowing the wants/needs of users whilst avoiding potential
pitfalls and legal proceedings that have ensued before with other forums - makes sense we learn from mistakes. Personally my removed post was more a here's what's about did you know it was there it has a lovely tank in the wall - i wasn't interested in reviewing stores just got shoe horned into that category and removed and then told to go to the review section which doesn't exist. Maybe when it is live i will understand.
I have to agree with minnt though with the fact that your so cagey about other forum mentioned, almost to insecurity. There's a wealth of information out there on the internet can you imagine if no site linked to another and pretended they didn't exist - then every article would be re-written over and over in different places - talk about re-inventing the wheel.
A forums success is based on it's strengths and if its a good, friendly well designed and informative place
(which it is) then people will continue using it. We all know other sites are out there and its good to read
between different articles to get a greater understanding. The internet is about sharing and pooling resources and information and not being able to say jo blogs over at fishplace has wrote an excellent article here it is - seems, well backwards do we pretend the article doesn't exist, copy and paste it or PM users to say psst heres what your looking for?
The chip shop is a bad anology this isn't about blatantly promoting another shop for the same item to take
custom for the same product, information isn't chips
ps don't take me as slagging, just a friendly debate - i do like this place !

I must disagree, the analogy is a fine one.
Reef Central and The Reef Tank are forums that are reef forums. While we have a salt water section and they have freshwater sections the primary role of this forum is freshwater and the primary role of those forums is reef tanks.
To take the analogy a bit farther it would be like my going into our chip shop and asking for lobster. They might say they don't have that but there's a fine place down the road that does. In that case the owner of the fish shop is happy to refer a customer elsewhere because he doesn't do what they do. But if they came in looking for fish and chips he would be daft to send them down the road to another shop.
Not all other forums are blocked but many are. Of the list that exists I have added exactly none to it. All the blocked forums were blocked before my arrival. It's a rule all the other forums I use also have, and to be honest it's just reasonable.
In the end information very much is chips and that's a product of the Internet age. My day job is all on a computer. That means the product of my 40 hour work week is completely intangible. Imagine that for a moment...paid to create something you can't lay hands on...my whole job is information. In this day and age that's the chips.

One of the main factors of our decision was the fact that the very first post in the thread was by a member about "naming and shaming" which made it clear to us that members were seeing the thread in that way. Even if that wasn't your intention it was the case.
