The DIY section is where the thread on te build is. Instead of using a t valve the chap used those hozelock one way connector things & you just have to swap them round to change the flow....Just had a quick look, it's one of the pinned threads at the top.... DOH!!
 
Just made one following that thread - really easy to make although with my tank being lower than the sink it was a bit tricky getting the empty flow going. I cheated in the end and rigged a battery powered vac to the hose and let that do the pumping out, end result was the same though with an easy 50% water change and not a bucket in sight!
 
ok so i built mine. wow it works freaking awsome. i went to the pet store and they wanted 50 $ for one i was like i know i can build one for cheaper. so i went to home depot. i got everything for 20.31 $ and it works awsome. so i save me like 30 $ so ha to all u local fish stores that want to wrip me off.
