it's a gravel vac/tank filler that you hook to your sink. It sucks all the gunk out of the bottom of the tank and dumps it down the drain. Then it refills the tank. Really a must have if you have a large tank, but for small tanks it's really overkill.

but it doesnt let u treat the water before you put it in the tank which is why i didnt really like it

Makes changing water less of a chore. You hook it up to your sink. Turn on the water. Through a ventury effect it will start a siphon from your tank into the sink. If the faucet is low enough. If the faucet is not high enough you just keep the water running. There is a gravel vac attachment that you can install. Then after you empty enough water from your tank you can fill it back up.

True you have to treat the water after its in the tank. But, I have not had a problem doing up to a 50% water change on a 55 gallon tank if I use a water conditioner before I fill up the tank. I use Prime by Seachem, by the way.

Yeah I just measure how much water I take out by dividing the tank into 5ths (20%) I take out 1/5 and add conditioner for how ever much water 1/5 would be. A ten gallon would be 2 gallons worth of dechlor. BTW it is advertised in the paperwork that came with my python that because the water is well airated when it enters the tank there is no need to add dechlor unless you need to deal with chloramines or heavy metals. Can anyone comment on this?

well this sounds good. but how do i build one. i know there is a post up on this subject and i read it but its confusing and doesnt make sence to me. is there a good web site on this showing how to build one. or can some one explain a little better for me. thanks for all the help..

I can describe it. First of all there is a t joint with a shut off valve that connects to your sink. The shut off valve needs to be able to stop water running down into your drain. A piece of tubing goes from the aquarium to the t joint on the faucet, when you use the shut off valve water should run from the faucet to the tank. When you don't use the shut off valve water should run straight through the t joint and into your sink this will cause a siphon action which will pull water through the tubing and out of your tank. The last thing is that you need to put another shut off valve on the tank end of the tubing so that you can control the water flow. That's about the best I can do without posting pics of mine set up. try doing a search, you may find a better description.

that was a lot better so let me see if i got this strait. first i need a t joint. the t joint will be connected to the sink. then a piece of tub will go to my fish tank then. if i turn on the sink the water should cause a siphon action and water will start coming out of my tank. then once i clean the tank out if i close the bottom end of the t join water should go back into my tank right. is that how it gos? please help becuase i want to build this a.s.a.p. thanks for all of the help andy

sounds right except you need to have another stop valve at the syphon end. Be careful when opening and closing this valve because if it is closed and the one on the sink is closed then pressure will build and eventually something will blow and water will go everywhere. Someone else please comment on this, I believe I have it right but I would hate for this guy/girl to go through all this trouble and have it wrong.

Anyone know of any good python stockists near guildford? or a good priced online dealer?
