Hey guys.. I've recently brought some Pygmy Puffers, and was just wonderin if there's anythin i can actually put with them. One of the girls at my LFS said nothing really, but if there is anythin i can put with, bottoms feeders or algae munchers to help keep the tank clean, then please let me know :D

The girl at your LFS is quite right to say that I'm afraid :D

There are very few compatible tankmates for these aggressive little fish  Have a read on the pinned topics in the oddball section. Lots of info and other keepers' experiences.

I keep mine with Amano shrimps and many keepers also have successfully kept theirs with ottos.

You may get away with oto's, they (as do puffers) need a very mature tank though :) lots of algae growth is also a benefit to them.

What size tank and how long have you had it?

i think its either a 24 or 36 litre tank, cant remember!!  Its well planted, got a lot of cover in there.. i had it set up for about 2 weeks, then put 2 of my mollies in there to give it a bit of a kick start, took them out 2 weeks later, waited one more week, *checkin water quality all the time* then introduced the puffers, 2 by 2.

Hmmm, id really keep an eye on your stats :) its not the most effective way to cycle and you may need to keep a bucket of clean water to hand for the next few weeks to water change whenever needed.

i chck my water every day pretty much, so if it starts to get high, ill do a change.. specially on my fighter :D

DPs (Dwarf Puffers) are very sensitive to poor water conditions and need a mature tank so just keep a close eye on their behaviour and water stats. 36 litres is a tad small for 4 of these guys since they are extremely territorial. Be prepared in case you need to separate them. Other than that, enjoy your cute little puffs. They are so much fun :D :D

Edit: Forgot to mention, they are fussy/picky eaters and DO NOT eat flakes unless you got some weird ones
