Ive got a 10g tank and i am looking at getting a school of these, how many would be suitable?

i would say 10 for a 10 us gallons tank and 15 for a 10 uk gallons tank - 45 litres

the tank should be fully cycled and have a sand or fine gravel substrate and weekly water changes
ph of 6-8 and a temp of 22 - 26 degrees happiest at 22-24 IME

are you gping for the Corydoras pygmaeus or one of the other smaller corys hastatus or habrosus ?

tank has been running for 2 years so it is well established, it has a sand substrate and i do weekly water changes, im looking at getting a schoal of these and a shoal of dwarf rasboras, i was thinking about getting maybe 10 rasboras and 6-7 cories?

i would get 10 pygmys and 15-20 rasboras especially if your going for brigitte (chilli) rasboras as i have them in my 55 ltr hex and only whe i incresed the numbers to 30 did i see the brigittes

im going to look at 6-7 pygmys and 10-12 dwarf rasboras

ye but it is better to understock than to overstock and you need to allow room for growth aswell. 6-7 pygmys and 10-12 rasboras is a sensible choice

As a loose rule of thumb it is better to understock than overstock. That said, when you've been keeping fish for some time (as I believe pippoodle has) you learn when what looks to be overstocking is in fact a reasonable level. As for allowing for growth...as pip already stated, she's taken that into account.

Dwarf spotted rasboras grow to 3/4 of an inch (2cm) dont they

im not saying pip is wrong, im just giving my opinion.

And I'm explaining why I agree with Pip. Whilst I don't agree with everything she says, I've been on these forums for awhile now and I've a certain amount of respect for her opinion. Whereas I've seen you posting some opinions with some questionable logic. I feel its only fair to the OP to make that clear, in order that they can make something of an informed decision.

i know. i would say to agree with pip myself even though im saying something completely different. pip has been on here hell longer than i have i just wanted to give my opinion on what i think would be a sensible starting amount for fish. that isnot to say that they can add more fish after if they want.
