Hey
I have 6 pygmy cories, I have had them since October last year, they are in a 10gallon with 3 lamp eye fry. The stats are all good, nitrates 5, nitrites 0 and ammonia 0. They had a water change yesterday all fine, just done another one just to make sure.

Noticed one of the pygmies upside down, swimming around and resting like this. I netted him and he had righted himself again so let him go after a little observation, now noticed him doing it again, so again netted him..What is this, can I do anything for him and is he going to make it?

Only time had a fish belly up was a dwarf puffer who had gulped air leaping for food and it turned fatal. I know cories go for air but surely this shouldnt be fatal to them? Any help really appreciated.

Can you issolate him and use a bacterial med.

Does he look bloated.
Any red sores or streaking on his body.

Once fish lay on there backs they rarely make it.

Hey Wilder, thanks for help again. I can certainly isolate him. He looks completely healthy nothing wrong with him appearance wise. Once he is in the net I have him in he seems fine and upright, really unusual. Bacterial meds, I have: Myaxzin (Most bacterial infections) / Anti Internal Bacteria No 9 by Interpret. What do you think would be best? Thanks so much for all the help Wilder, dont know what I would do without you !

Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the heads up, have decided will be treating in a hospital tank with a specially prepared filter so my main tanks wont be affected! :good: (real thanks though as wasnt aware of it!)

Anytime, sometimes everyone forgets the smaller details, like Meth Blue stains ornaments for example. :D

Yes maracyn can knock water stats.
Some members have said sometimes it can knock beneifical bacteria out completely.
Never used the med myself as you can buy it in the uk.
Antibiotics do wipe benefical bacteria out. That's why it's best to issolate when using them.

Just a little update. I thought i had netted the correct pygmy last night and had left him overnight to treat today while the hospital tank stabilised. This morning found a dead pygmy on the sand, so unsure if perhaps I got the wrong one, or something really weird is going on with them...

I just cannot keep Pygmy's for some reason, they just die on me with no symptoms :(
