Pygmy Cory Upside Down?

Ah havent read yet, moved snail out anyways (forgot he was there). The original upside down one is still going, havent seen him upside down since in the trap. Unfortunately lost another pygmy found this morning, again nothing appearance wise wrong.

What can be causing this? The water stats are perfect except after a dead fish...

Fish can get ill if there pecked at the dead body of the fish.

It sounds like you have a bad bacterial infection.

Interpet med not that good on advance bacteria infections.
The corys really need issolating and using antibiotics.

They are isolated in their own species tank anyways. What can I purchase as antibiotics? (Any brand names as such)? Didnt find any of the two dead bodies pecked at (unless miniscule) they seemed intact all over in my attempt to see anything unusual  Thanks so much Wilder for everything x

One thing I also wanted to ask is are there any bacterial washes that you can use on equipment such as nets and siphons between tanks? I have just enough for each tank on its own but would be good to know!

Boiling salty water the best.
You can use diluted myxazin for equipment.

If you use an antibiotic it will wipe the benefical bacteria out in the filter.

Antibiotics.
Tetracycline a good gram pos, gram neg antibiotic.
You need to get a gram positive and gram negative antibiotic.

Will find the info for you.

Do you have any antibiotics from a doctor in the cuboard which are not out of date.

Oh thanks so much Wilder, will have a quick look around to see if anything about but cant remember the last time had antibiotics, will update if find anything. Thanks so very very much x

Ok.
Ask your family as sometimes there some left over.

Will do, hopefully seeing them over the weekend, in the meantime will finish the second part of the med to tie over :good:

Well they were doing extremely well but had another death today, this one had a red belly think internally but unsure how long he was there for. I am panicking slightly as the second younger group of cories in another tank has been upside downing and whirling twirling... They share a tank with panda and habrosus and really unsure what to do.

Elsewhere been speaking with someone in similar region of same problems and he believes water board problems, though none of the other fish (touchwood) have seem affected. unsure whether to let nature take its course or what!

Now a first lost one of the new ones. He was not swimming all that good last night, so had him in the net over night (died of whatever it is or stress from the net). All other cories accounted for..Got a pic of the fellow incase not seeing something:

Red belly can be septicemia.

I think I would just let things settle down now. You will lose fish, but eventually things should start to settle back down.
Water changes.
Once fish have septicmeia it's hard to cure once it progresses.
Also the bacteria can leak into the tank from the fish.
So if a fish has septicemia it needs issolating, then water changes on main tank.

Steralise equipment after use. So you are not infecting other tanks.

The best bit of advice I can offer is issolate new fish for 4 weeks.

Thanks so very very very much xx Shall isolate fish from now on and go by PM, have started to steralise equipment between the tanks, using tonic salts and hot water as suggested earlier for now and myaxzin also. I think we have been overlucky with our fish never really having problems before christmas except with fry. Definately learnt a lesson and will move forward from this with hopefully not too many casulaties. Very grateful x

Good luck.
Keep us all updated on there progress.
