Puffers Or Shelldwellers?

Have just bought a 70l tank and have put the sand and substrate in, waiting for plants then ill start the cycle. In the meantime i cant decide whether to puffers or shelldwellers? Want a species tank coz i have a community tank. Any suggestions are muchly appreciated.

I used to keep dwarf puffers and although they were lovely I did get kind of bored with them. Once they reached adulthood they were so territorial that I could only keep 1 male and 2 females in a Rekord 70. The male would bully the female he wasn't paired off with mercilessly until I had to remove her. A 70 litre tank for 2 small fish seemed a waste and I gave them to a guy who wanted to breed them.

Shell dwellers look fantastic to me, full of character and possible fish to breed.

If you're open to other fish, how about something like scarlet badis and african dwarf frogs? I had these and between the frogs silly behaviour and the tiny badis going mental all the time it was hilarious.

Dunno bout frogs man think ill stick to fish seen as though i have 25 plants on the way through the post.
So thats 2-0 to the shelldwellers!! 3-0 including the girlfriend!!

Well went to the fish shop the day n I think i have decided to get shelldwellers, the just look good n its cool when they go into the wee tiny shells. Also it just seemed like everyone was telling me to get them too.

I had puffers at home - GSP - very entertaining fish to watch and will actually come to you - shell dwellers are nice but live in their own world... I vote puffers - just make sure to research a little before you get them

Well thats one vote for puffers atleast. Think i will go with shelldwellers coz they are easier to keep too and I can have more of them. Heard puffers were fun but i could only have two of three.

Sounds like you've made your mind up but I would go for Puffers (bet nobody saw that coming!) As everyone knows by now... Puffers are my thing! Let me know if you do deciede to go for puffers though and i'll help ya out best I can.

I'm lucky in that I keep both Puffers and Shell-dwellers.. both are my favourite fish out of all my tanks. Puffers win all the time though! They make pets as supposed to just 'fish in the corner'
