Public Appolegy

I know that I was on both sides of the fence with this one (for those of you who read the thread) but really, I don't blame "the fish dude" because the dixie cup is a temp. situation. If you took it home and kept it in a "swaller" of water, it wouldn't take 2 days for the fish to see some sort of ill effect. You said it yourself, you clean the cups and change the water on a daily basis (or you should) but at the home, most people who would even think of putting a betta in a dixie cup, wouldn't change the water as often. Also, you probably have an RO or similar system to clean and purify the water. This gives you fairly consistant water parameters. Municipalities have no where near this standard of water quality and consistancy. That means that an individual that simply treats tap water with de-chlorinator can't ensure the temp, and pH, and so on are the same. This leads to much stress to the fish. Also, complete water changes are not very healthy for a fish anyways. Also, a lack of filtration is NEVER beneficial to ANY fish, no matter how much they cost.

All in all, I think the fact that you think of fish as a product in stead of a living thing is where your problem lies. I truely don't think you believe this, or else you wouldn't have put forth the time and effort to gain the experience you claim to have. However, I do believe that you had a bad day, or week, or month, or year or whatever, but I really don't think that you are fit to be in the industry. I work at a sattelite store, and I deal with idiots all day, and believe you me, it is more frustrating to get a deaf, old, lady, to tell her deaf, old husband that the TV has to be on channel 3, when she is in the kitchen and he is on the other side of the house in the bedroom. I also worked at Blockbuster where every late fee anyone had was my fault, even though they were a week late and there were nine movies, I should be expected to give them a $150 credit to get rid of their late fee. Believe me, I know what its like to deal with idiots, but, I will hopefully be starting at a fish shop soon, and I will not be letting someone walk home with a betta with plans to keep it in the cup. I don't blame you for anything other than being uncuth. You should appologize and not retract it in three sentances, and you should not project your anger on a caring human being that was just trying to porvide his honest opinion and advice to someone requesting help. I will leave you with this advice, reconcile with Mr. V in a PM. Formally appologise here, and never use such language on this forum again, otherwise all the information you could ever give me or anyone else is usless, I would rather find it elsewhere.

P.S. Just like when you're on the phone, put a :D on when you type, you would be surprised how much difference it makes.

and how much customer service training do we have??? Just messing with you. i did phone based tech support for over 5 years and heard that "put a smile on" thing hundreds, maybe even thousands of times. one supervisor went so far as to buy mirrors for each of his people and they were FORCED to look into the mirror and smile as they answeredthe phone.

I'll simply add this..................

If one does not like their job, then one should change jobs!!

In any customer based service industry job the "customer is always right"!! Remember....THEY pay your salary!! Without them there would be no business and job for one to go to!!

MrV....continue posting your honest opinions....and if you need it, there is a small, but growing support group here!!!

We call ourselves "The honest opinion outcasts" and we, as of late, have been meeting regularly....right CFC???

With three of us no one will stand a chance, ask for opinions at your peril

Is there any point giving anything but an honest opinion? Because then you'd be lying!!

Ok, wait up a second...

Didn't I post my honest opinion both times?

Time for my personal cliche: 'I'm Sorry', I wasn't able to get to the computer for the last 3 days because I had to work 26 hours at the fish store. Great fun. This one woman screamed at me because my Black Ghost Knife was $38.88. She said that one of her friends said they were $18.99. Oh well.

Back to this opinion business though  isn't it funny how you guys say 'honest opinion' and 'free speech' when something someone says is in your favor? But If I post my 'honest opinion' with my right to 'free speech' you guys use your right to 'free speech' to diss my 'honest opinion'.

Sounds quite logical to me :/

In all retrospect, did anyone handle this issue well? Nope. I got one constructive criticism from Tanked, that moved me to post that I respected the fact that this is a family forum. Aside from that I got a mixture of threats and orders. :(

Its funny because I didn't actually use any swears. I pusposely edited them out and replaced with stuff like *** and $$. So technicaly I didn't use foul language. Other than 'Hell', but hey, don't blame me, the Bible is the authority on that one B) .

You know what else comes to mind? I had been writing down the URL for this site when customers had questions I couldn't answer, or were beginning new aquariums and recommending this site. Lol. I guess i'll stop that, wouldn't want anyone to voice the wrong 'honest opinion' and get chastised.

Oh yeah, I killed a hampster today. He had wet tail (terminal diarehha) and I was giving him the oral medication. I had trouble getting him to open his mouth for it because he was very weak and within a 24 hours of death. I put a little of the liquid on his lips and got him to open up a bit. When he opened his mouth I put a drop in. I did this 5 times, the dosage is 5 to 7 drops directly into the mouth 4 times daily. Anyways, after 5 drops he stopped opening his mouth and stopped breathing. I tried to compress the diaphram and force him to breathe, but to no avail. It turned out that each time he was opening his mouth he was actually gasping for air. Instead all he got was a drop of medicine in his lungs. I was wearing a glove to avoid being bitten, so I couldn't tell that he was inhaling. -_-

Oh well, its not the first animal that I have killed or had die in my hands. I felt bad for a few minutes, because I had tried to save his neibour a minute earlier but he was already just about dead, and I couldn't open his mouth without hurting him. I told hammy that I was going to help him because I couldn't save his neibour. Kinda like the time I told the golden retriever at the animal clinic that we were gonna go for a walk. But the walk didn't last long, it was only from his kennel to the lab, where I held him down for the big poke.

As you can see i'm a little desensitized to things. When I see people get all emotional over the treatment of a fish, because it's in a cup. Well. :hyper: It seems kinda trivial to me.

Anyways, have a nice day.
Don't be like me and rub your cat's hair the wrong way.

HooDude!

Oh yeah,

I forgot to mention that I do have a compassionate side to me too. I'm not ALL inhuman! :D

Someone abandoned a cat near my friend's farm, and it came to her house. Her father hates cats and was going to shoot it, but I stepped in and took the cat home. Right now he's a little scratched up, not bad, been in a cat fight or two. He's skinny, hasn't eaten in a few days, but not dehydrated anymore. I've given him food, water, and a bowl of warm milk. I might keep him or I may take him to the local humane society. Who knows. That reminds me I should check out wether he has been neutered, and figure out if he is m or f...

Gonna go check now...

Can't, he's too busy eating a hearty meal.

Oh well, i'll find out later.

Goodbye,
HooDude

I just want to add my two cents I will say all big chain pet stores do look at pets as bar codes and will cram as manny fish into a tank as they can. Now when I go to the smaller mom & pop family owned stores in the area which I will always support to stop a monopoly they have their tanks set up as we would like Martys for example 1 10gallon tank had 1 betta and the rest neon tetras another 1beta and black skirt tetras, ect, ect and when he gets his fish in and sets up displays he wont sell a new fish for 8 days he marks tanks for stock date to make sure fish are in good health. that I say is a true fish place he cares first about the fish stress then second to sell it as where big places get in fish and you can buy it as soon as its dumped in because they don"t care , Its all about volume sales "oh it died heres another . how many fish do you want 60 ok here you go. where the little guy will say wait a second how big is your tank . Bring in a water sample.
So in my eyes support the little guys first even if the fish cost a bit more the chances are they were looked over better. At least here in New jersey, Hamilton twp.

Public Apology - You're Sorry ??????

after reading the 'outburst' and rereading your 'apology'

I've come to the conclusion that its not worth a light !

You offer it and then take it straight back again  - whats that all about :/

Don't know why you bothered m8 - its no apology at all

infact its quite sad really :-(

:)
You still don't get it do you m8 ?

I think the main problem was the personal attack on another member of this forum not the use of profanities :/ (of which many of us are guilty of at some time to some extent).

- thats what I took exception to .....

Why even start by apologising to MrV?

:)
