Pseudotropheus Demasoni

Hello again Ginge,

I've kept Demasoni on 2 occasions, both times as a single male in tanks set up with single specemins of various species. I had no problems whatsoever with this type of setup but i did ensure that there were no species that looked very similar like Demasoni and Saulosi to avoid additional aggression.

The general rule though with Demasoni is to keep them in large numbers to spread the aggression around with as few males as possible, preferrably 1. The most common advice i have seen is to go for a species only tank, i.e all Demasoni and to overstock the tank quite heavily.

Hope this helps

I dont mean to offend anyone with this comment but i think that specieas only tanks are the most boring kinds i will try and sort that out with my lsf that we talked about eirlier but if i can't sort it because of there stupid polocies then i will just take one of the fish they cant make me take two.

I am sorted now the LFS said i can have 1 of the 2 free demasoni on the voucher and i can have 2 yellow labs in place of the other.

Sounds good, Demasoni usually get along just fine with yellow labs.

It is Pseudotropheus Demasoni (I'm not joking, it really is)

The pic is of a Demasoni called Demon (very original) i used to have, he sadly died around 6 months ago. Great fish but aggressive little fella's.

I take it you had it in your 55G on its own??? Was it male or female? Is it best to get a male or female as they will be the only demasoni in the tank?

so they will totally anialate electric yellow and peacocks? sorry to hear about the loss i would be very :-( if it was me.

Ginge, he was a male but it doesn't make much difference if you are only keeping 1.

The thing about Demasoni is that while they are ruthless against their own or something that looks similar, they tend to get along fine with cichlids that are different enough not tot be a threat. One Demasoni is much easier to deal with then more then one, and if you keep one make sure nothing has the same markings that can confuse it.
