will protozin get rid of cotton wool on my Green Terror. It all started last yesterday when he head butted one of my plecs scratching his nose quite bad, then yesterday evening I noticed that his nose had started to grow cotton wool from it. I have done my weekly water change a day early to try and remove some bacteria and the only medicine I have is Protozin will this work or am I better getting something else all my other fish seem healthy with no cotton wool. I don't have any water readings but my tank is a 4foot its not over stocked or anything

no that wont help your mouth fungus get some maracyn 2 mabey or tri sulfa mabey something like that and you need to get it fast I wish I knew your readings it would help. Do you have a hospital tank mabey you sont need to treat the rest of your fish if they dont have it.

You will probably need Myxazin. Here is a clipping from the Waterlife site.

MYXAZIN lowers the count of harmful bacteria in aquarium water, treating Fin Rot, Body Rot, Ulcers, Sores and other bacterial infections. MYXAZIN will also help to control Pop - Eye Disease, Cloudy Eyes and Mouth Fungus

Protozin should do fine to clear up fungus,i have used it many times to good affect, just remember to use half the stated dose if any scaleless fish are present.
I find Myxazin to be a little weak on fungus but is fine for sterilising live foods of for treating fish directly using a cotton swab.

Cheers for that CFC and thanks for the warning about scaleless I have a Pangasius and aren't plec's scaleless aswell?

yes, plecs are scaleless fish. have also used clout for this and salt. once again the scaleless fish cannot be introduced to the salt water and you will need to ensure that all of the salt is gone before reintroducing. salt will burn the scaleless fish.

you should use a hospital tank. will keep the infected fish from the rest of the fish and cut down on the amuont of meds you will need to use. 10's and 20's make great hospital tanks.

also, clout will stain the silicone in the tank a blue green.

I did have a 10g hospital tank but the kids wanted to buy some fish so it's being used for my small fish comunity mainly tetras ( bloodfins, cardinals, harlequins glow lights ) and an albino red finned shark. This morning the cotton wool has gone from his nose and no-one else looks like they've got any so fingers crossed the two dose's of protozin by water life and the next two dose's have done the trick, because he's a real character
