I do not want to plant my 20 gallon tank with real plants, but would like to have some benefits of a plant in the environment. Has anyone had a moss ball before? Please tell me what you liked and did not like about them. Thank you! :)

i have four atm,
i love them
cant really think of anything to say
they dont require much light.
i just turn mine over every week to stop it dieing underneath

I have one in my tank....my shrimp love picking up food there, that has gotten caught in it. Just rinse the moss ball a little during the water change to clean out debris and keep it looking nice! Squeeze it out lightly, it will come back to its shape!

I have several in both tanks because I love them.  I second giving them a squeeze from time to time.

I havr a few of them in my tanks and I love them. I don't do anything particularly, sometimes my fish will move them or the current will do it.

I have a few in my shrimp tank and in my main display tank. They're really low maintenance and most fish won't eat them, making them ideal for keeping with my rainbow cichlids.

Thanks, guys! This has been really helpful. I am getting one this week!

I have them in most of my tanks now. I tend to give them a squeeze out every now and again in the water taken during a water change. I would avoid the giant ones as I have found these do not keep their shape as well. They like a lot of light and will die off in in a shadow. You will see some of them in my current sig. Take care when feeding that food does not fall into them and not get eaten by something in the tank, the "squeeze" however, will sort out any decaying food.

They can be very useful for babies to hide in and they protect the babies from being eaten by larger fish

Hey guys, I got a moss ball four days ago and I like it so much! My gourami are munching on it a little bit, but nothing too bad. It looks fantastic! I may get another one for the 20 gallon and one for my 2.5 gallon betta tank! Even if they don't end up really impacting the environment very much, they are beautiful and my fish love them!
