Proposed USA regulations ending fish keeping

Idc what they say, I'm keeping my tank. Not getting rid of it... Its not illegal... It can't and won't be

It looks like they are going for fish that can live in the areas climate and are predatory fish. In California that means almost every large tropical predator would still be legal. Only Snakeheads-already illegal- would be on that list. Piranha another fish long on the illegal list. Red Arowana being endangered also never seen here.
Nobody likes the idea of fish police, but what's the point of Arapaima and Pacu? Even Ohio Fish Rescue is going to have to give up their Arapaima or see it one day dead on the floor. It's about 24" more of growth from becoming a serial jumper.
Their 6' deep indoor pool is getting smaller by the day. Still huge for the other fish..but Arapaima?..times tick'in.

I'm wondering if this will be a short term boon for the industry, similar to when Democrats threaten firearm legislation - Usually results in record number of sales.

There will always be a way to get fish, I would worry more about the ancillary items. HOB, canisters etc. You can always build tanks and sumps. Most of the hobby can be DIY, but it will be harder.

The real problem will be if there is legislation criminalizing discussion on forums such as this and the sale of 'Ghost Aquariums'

Never underestimate the appetite of a government for control and restriction of Liberty. Once they start, they will take more.

They better not close down forums... Cause see, you guys are my only form of communication to the world... I have no friends really. I'm home schooled and this place is just so nice. Its a cool place to hang out without being judged and I feel understood. Idk if I could handle losing this forum...

It will just move to the Dark Web, just down the hall from stolen credit cards and identities.

I'm being partially sarcastic, unfortunately.

Sad... So sad...

Cheer up, you'll meet new friends, in dark alleys, swapping cash for zip-lock bags. Filled not with deadly powder but fish and water.

:ninja:
Yay! Don't say too much. Big brother is always watching

I was looking up PETA... Im all for not abusing animals but a lot of their things go too far. And some of their ads habe been banned due to the graphic stuff they show! And their ads are staged! So they say they don't do animal abuse and yet they skin animals on ads to show people WTH

Y'all ready for Arapaima King? Time for some quasi-illicit big fish reality television once they're all banned; only wrangled by 50 year old self proclaimed monster fish kings that feed hot dogs and goldfish donated by local organizations and local fishermen cleaning out waterways infested by invasives.

Truly a grim future.

I can't sadly

Write a letter and have your parents send it or include it in their letter. Maybe it will get read on the floor during debates.
Both of your Senators are Republicans, so I assume they will debate against the proposed Bill.

The thing is, me and my family are politically neutral. So we never take sides on anything political.
