Hi,

How do I go about propagating Java Moss and Christmas Moss? Is it as simple as giving it a trim and keeping the clippings? Should the clippings be tied to something straight after cutting, or shoudl they be left to float somewhere?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Moss doesn't generally float, it usually ends up stuck to something at the bottom of my tank, when I need more I tie it to some plastic mesh which floats and just throw it in my tank which keeps it close to the light source and after a month I split it and do it again but use half and a month later it's doubled again :)

I have some in a small propergator on my windowsill at the moment. Just don't expect it to grow fast. I just float mine in water, changing it every few weeks.

Thanks alot :)

So trim, and then plenty of patience hehe...

If you have very low lighting yes, if you have reasonable lighting then it wont look like much has changed and one day you'll wonder why, take a closer look and realise its doubled in thickness.
