Progress...

Just bought a huge java fern from P@H for £3.99, supposed to be £16.99, but I think they made a mistake :good:

Got a bargain there then :good:.. So you planning on having a group of neon's in a separate setup?

Im going to attack it on tuesday...but...

I have had the tank set up for about 2 months now, and my plants, whilst not dying, dont seem to have grown much.

I have 1cm of gravel, topped with about 1-5cm of sand in places.

Im wondering if I should use fertilizer? If so, what type?

I have:

Eleocharis Acicularis
Pogostemon Helferi
Pogostemon Erectus
Limnophilia Aromatica
Vesicularia Dubyana
Juncus Repens
Micromanthemum Umbrosum
Microsorum pteropus.

Right now I dont know if I should change the substrate, and put in some TetraPlant Complete Substrate under the top layer of sand, just where I want the plants to go, or to just add API Root Tabs (10 Tabs)?

I think Im going to start adding SeaChem Flourish Excel 100ml
instead of adding pressurised CO2?

Thoughts?

I would suggest sticking to tougher plants if your fish are rearanging them and making a bit of a mess. Cabomba is a bit flimsy anyway and don't take much to break/damage or uproot it.

If you are going to be dosing a liquid carbon supplement then you will need to be dosing a fertiliser too. Something which includes micro and macro nutrients such as TPN+ or Profito. If looking for something cheaper then have a look on ebay for something called Green Low (for tanks with no co2) or Green High (for tanks which have co2 added) I am using the Low version as i am not dosing carbon and i am experiencing great results even after a week!

Yeah, I actually have stems stripped of leaves now lol. Entire branches are just floating by!

Ill def try that green-low stuff. Cheers for that!

Remove any debris then mate as it will soon start to leech ammonia into the water. :)

Yeah I already do. Its easy enough as it sticks to the inlet of the filter :)

Made my wood 'sculpture' today, ready to go in tank tomorrow :)
