ok, last week i added a new peice of bogwood to my tnak, it had been soacked an was no longer releasing tannins...

i came to test my water in the new setup and saw this horrible stuff gorwing all over the bogwood  well its either growing or seeping out of it..

it looks fluffy in the water... but when i take it out it looks slimey and feels slimey..

what on earth could this be? and wil it harm any plants im planning on puttin in tomoz?

nothin else wrong with the tank apart from this, it dosnt seem to be on anything else... just on the bogwood..

i read in another post that someone else had the same problem but it was leaching onto the substrate in the tank as well.... well mine isnt its staying on the bogwood...

any help?

Dawn xx

well the stuff growing from your wood is algae!!! u should get a pleco of algae eated to regularly eat it up ok i love you dawn can i ssee your pic?

Hi Nightlife A beginner myself but had exactly the same problem about two weeks ago.
What I did was to use a piece of plastic tube as a syphon and scrapped it along the bog-wood the stuff came off quite easily without much effort. and I'm pleased to say it has not returned, hope it works for you.
