Prob With Tank

Is it opposite a window?
what are the actual water stats of the tank?
Also do you mean 120G or 120litres? becasue unless that tank is extremely long it doesn't look like a 120G

Taken from your other post

Size of aquarium: 120 gallons
Types of fish : goldfish x5 small plecos x3 weather laoch x 2 poor mans tetra x 5
Filtration used and how do you clean it and how often - flueval 3 cleaned weekly
How much in the way of water changes and how often -- 25% weekly ( plus 50% today)
Do you dechlorinate - tetra aquasafe
How long has the fish been sick and which medications are your currently using or recently used : 4 days with interpet number 8 anti fungus
Test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph both from the tap and tank - all normal but temp has raised naturally to 22c

there is a window in the room which light shines for about 4 hours int he afternoon directly in the alcove where the cloudy tank is. this window is 4 meters away and not opposite. L <--- eg tank at top of L window bottom right of L.

all water stats remain constant

nitrite <0.3 mg/l
ph 7.5
amonia 0

i dont have any other testers

temp has increase to 23c due to resting heat of house during this hotter period in london

both are 3ft 120L tanks, lol cheers for that correction!

How many fish and which type do you have in the tank.
How long has the tank been set up.
How often do you maintain the tank.
Do you over feed.

i dont think i over feed them i give them enough so they can eat for about 1 minute once per day.

Your tanks severely overstocked.
Golfish need 20 gallons for the first goldfish, then 10 gallons for every other goldfish added to the tank.
They also need double filteration as they are massive waste producers.

The only thing you can do is rehome the goldfish.
The filter will never cope with 5 goldfish in that tank size.

i didnt realise GF required so much water i wanted more so im glad you've told me this

what would your hunch be in regards to the slime in the water. is it possible to be caused by the interpet medicine as i dont think sand or fungus has caused this?

The slime could be that the tanks overstocked.
I had two fancy goldfish in a 40 gallons and when I did the weekly maintance the tank glass would be slimey.
Also meds can sometimes cause slim on top of the water if there not enough aeration.

The tank isnt overstocked but the filter is. You can keep all of your fish happily if you buy a large external filter for it and run together with existing filter for a month. Go for something like a fluval 405, it isnt an overkill despite what the numbers on the box say. It just means you wont have to clean the filter out as often.

the filter appears to be coping from all accounts, the medium is never over full and the the air flow has always been good. well until this slimy gunk stuff blocks it up every other day. (this is a 4 day old problem) will a 50% water change every 2 days destroy the tank/fish?

Water changes. Clean ornaments and plastic plants. Clean glass with a magnet. Fresh filter floss.
Do use use a gravel vac.

The poster who repled saying your tanks wasn't overstocked is wrong.

yeah i have a gravel vac wilder, how do i go about cleaning with a magnet? i'll replace the filter floss tomorrow, as im off to bed now.

also my other tank which is a 20gal tank, has in it 3 silver dollars 4 serpea tetras 10 neon tetra and 6 pep catties is this also over stocked? also use a fleval 3+ filter in there.

thanks again and ill check back here in the morning x x

Its just a glass cleaning magnet you clean the glass with.

Yes that tanks overstocked too. But neon tetra don't produce much waste.
You can tell if you are overstocked by your water stats.
