Prob With Tank

Just to echo what wilder is saying,

You currently have goldfish and plecos in an inadequate sized tank, unfortunately both of these species are huge waste producers and therefore their waste is feeding and nourishing the ever growing algae.

Also i realise that this can't be helped but a temp of 23C is a little high for goldfish and this will have an effect on the goldfish by increasing their metabolism and therefore make them produce even more waste

How are you cleaning the filter? if the pads are coming into contact with tap water then each week you will be killing off all of the beneficial bacteria,

Ultimately a much bigger filter will help to keep the tank clean and clear but tbh you will still need to rehome at least some of the goldfish.

Also just to comment on your second tank, Silver Dollars get a fair size and are a skittish fish that will crash into the side of the glass if they are kept in too small a tank.
For a small group of silver Dollars you need at least a 55-60G

ty davo 86 and wilder for the feedback, NO more fish for me!

im cleaning the filter medium with the aquarium water. i learned the hard way on that a few years ago (

are you both putting the clouding down to filter overload then as i've had these fish numbers for a few years with out the problem and the only diferance is the interpet med i added?
I'd also be interested to know if either of you know a good resource/guide which indicates how much water each fish requires.

I'll have to set up another aquarium for the over stocked GF's

What are you treating the fish for.
A fish will sometimes produce more slime coat to protect themselves.
If the tank only gone cloudy after the med is more than likely the med.
