Hi,

I have an Aquaone 620T which has a trickle filter in the hood.

Yesterday I swapped the trickle filter for an external Tetratec EX700 filter. All went fine and I primed it using the automated button. Worked first time! I then realised that I had missed out the top plastic filter bit that fits on the top of all the cages. After much time trying to put the motor back on the filter (after about 1 hour) I finally got it all back together. I then tried to prime it but couldn't this time. After about 30 mins I blew out the water from the tube on the OUT side. This time it primed OK.

Therefore my questions are:

1) Do you need to have a clear tube on the OUT side? I will need to know for upcoming maintenence!!
2) I now have increased NitrIte at 0.5. This fish are looking destressed. I've not fed them and have done a 25% water change today which has helped a little bit I think. Am I doing the correct thing?

Thanks in advance.

Will.

OK, is the trickel filter still going? If not, what happened to it's media? Follow standord fish-in cycling procedure while Ammonia and/or Nitrite are raised (i.e waterchanges as often and large as required to keep both levels below 0.25ppm) :good:

Priming is easiest done with the canister empty of water. If the pipes are full, open the OUTLET side first, wait for the pipe to drain, them open the inlet side to get it to fill. If the pipes are empty, press the primer :good: The spraybar is optional if that's what you are asking about the outlet pipe???

Apologies, that wasn't clear. I swapped over the media from the trickle filter into the EX700.

Seems OK this morning the Nitrite is now at 0ppm. I will keep an eye on it though.

I meant the outlet side in general (flexible + rigid pipes). So that answers my question.

Thanks for the info Rabbut. Much appreciated.

No problem. The spray bar is optional, but the elbow that goes over the pain of glass is essential to avoid the pipe kinking...
