Price/ Value Of Black Venezuelan Cory's

I know I am probably going to have to give up the dream of some black cory's  , its bad enough the going price of yellow cherry shrimp $45 each so another critter that I have to just wish for. It was just that I had never seen black cory's for sale in Australia before. I will be talking to the person again, so who knows I might be able to get them to come down in price.

Best of luck. I love the look of them, but am not prepared to pay even the lower price here. Im happy to buy any fish as a youngster and watch it grow but I tend to balance the price against other fish on my wishlist and the best value for money will win. They are lovely but there are other equally if not more lovely corys to be found at better prices :)

Here is are the pictures that the seller posted, do they look like the proper black Venezuelan's ?

Hi Baccus :)

I'd say it was a C. schultzei (black). It looks quite mature too.

Thank you Inchworm, he just wants rid of them but still wants between $350 - $400 for the 6 of them. I am still debating if I really want to or can afford to spend that much on some fish.

For that amount I can get a complete 30 gallon set-up with fish.... Your choice....
True, you can buy a 30 gallon set up with that amount of money with the same fish in it and more than just 6 of them so i don't think you should get them or try telling him that they are just common and that they are too expensive for their type.

Baccus mate, walk away from this one. There are so many better things you can spend that kind of coin on. Nice enough fish, but hey, theres better ones for less money.

I couldn't try (even if I was inclined which I am not) to tell the person that the cory's are common, he knows they aren't any way. I will probably have to pass on them as I really need to invest in a new aircon for the house, the heat here has been insane, and as much as I like my creatures I also like my creature comforts. Who knows maybe one day some more will appear for sale and I will be in a better positon to get them. The only part that worries me is if nobody spawns them and raises the fry the type can easily become extinct in Australia, especailly with their cracking down on fish imports.
