Well this is my first post here and its a bit of a weird one.
I took some peppered cory eggs into a seperate tank so they wouldnt get eaten. After a few days the eggs got a little paler than I had seen before, but this DEFINATLY wasn't fungus. By the 4th day I didn't hold much hope for them hatching, But to my amazement I saw something. Theese are just like cory fry, but are about the size of 2 combined fullstops!!
Are these eggs prematures or something? They keep wriggling back into the shells to feed (I think), but they sure don't look like 'water bugs'.
It sounds like you have some pepper cory fry there that are a day or so old. I've often seen them poke around the eggs they hatched from in search of microscopic organisms to eat. Before long the empty egg shells will fungus and you should remove them.
I should be feeding the infursia (sorry cant spell) and perhaps some other liquid fry stuff when theyre a lil bit bigger. I'm not too surre when to start feeding them though, I had some fry from corys (two of them) but I think they died because I only noticed them when they were 4mm long and no food was left. Also would my filter, which is a little strong be too much for them, concidering they're on a verticle surface?
Thanks for the help.
Oh and very glad that they're not some kind of parasite that were just eating the eggs!
What other kind of fish do you have? I ask because corys at this age should be at the bottom of the tank most of the time.
You don't have to worry about feeding them infusoria because they are not all that little. They can eat Liqiu-fry from about the second day and microworms within their first week. By now, the remaining cory eggs and shell remnants should have fungused and be deteriorating rapidly.
Do you have any pictures of them that you could post?
Well so far I havent got any fish in the tank with them (its my baby fish bit), but I've got about 30 Ram eggs there too. Though with my luck they will fungus up, thats after thier parents ate the other 60 of them! So hopefully there wont be a problem. As the tank has got gravel and a few p-lants in it will I loose sight of them once they move from the sunken breeder?
Oh sorry I would get a picture but I can't sorry )
But they'd probably not get picked up too good anyway
