Precisely. I would have been wounded if my bacteria all died, forcing me to recycle all these tanks.

Another difference between the US and the UK - over here, the power companies can't cut you off anymore. What they do is to put you on a pre-payment meter, which overcharges you for the electricity that you subsequently use, which goes to pay off the arrears.

The reason why I said to float the media is because some filters, when the power is off all the water empties out of them, if the power was going to be off for awhile then the media would more than likely dry out, killing all the bacteria.
 
Anyway, good to know the problem is sorted.
