Hi folks, i've just started cycling a little 20L tank for a few neons.
I took apart the powered internal filter, and it has 4 parts to it.
The first is obviously the power head, and then theres a rough sponge, a fine sponge, and the last compartment has carbon (i presume) balls, each about the size of a marble, about 4 of them in total.
The problem is, i'm not sure which order they should go in.
The all interlink, and i could assemble it in any order.

I currently have the carbon balls at the bottom, then the rough sponge, and finally the fine sponge.
This order seemed to be the most logical.
The filter itself doesnt have a make or name on it, so i cant find it on the WWW anywhere.
it just came with this little 20L cube tank.

Hopefully someone can help me on this one.

Thanks.
Joe

thats the same order as in my old external, i think it's usual to have finer on top and balls or noodles on bottom! hope it's running ok for you

Hi, if you are doing the fishless cycle, add and wait ammonia way then remove the carbon balls and replace with ceramic noodles (tubes) or more sponge. Carbon is not required for a fishless cycle method.
