Seems that the power could be off up to 48 hours here in Utah. Which really blows. I have blanketed my tank and hope the power comes back on soon.

I don't want to lose any of my fish!

Can you use any kind of battery or generator to power your filter? Your bacteria will start to die after 24 hrs. If you can't power the filter, you should pour glassfuls of tank water over the filter media and let it run over the media.

Big storm out there? We've got a really nice day here in northern Minnesota, but if you're getting storms they'll find their way here!

Its being caused by the pressure of the high being north and east of the low pressure. Check accueweather.com main stories. BAD BAD winds. We have trees blown over, trucks blown over. It continues all the way down into california which is making the santa anas freak out at 100mph winds. Its only 40 out so my house is cooling down fast. Its the cold im worried about more than the water. I will have a generator tonight which will have been 12 hours down from 79F. My house is not efficient, so when I left the temp in my home had dropped 4 degrees to 66F. I put two fleece blankets over the tank to help keep warm in. I should be ok, hopefully it won't shock the fish to badly.

Oh, my. I can put up with just about anything but high winds. So scary! At least you're not below freezing. Good luck, and please keep us posted.

Scary. tank got down to 70F..... I finally got the generator running late last night and got the tank back up to 79F nice and gradually. Took 6 hours. Power just turned back on!

Is everything ok then now?

No deaths! My chromis hasn't eaten yet... but my yellow clown goby is thriving and eating food. The green chromis only nibbled, but he is becoming more active after hiding all this morning.

Oh Tyler I was gunning for you and didn't want to post in the thread. That stuff scares me! So glad the power came on and nothing died.

=) All worked out. Everybody is happy all the fish and inverts are happy as clams =) I will be buying a generator as soon as the budget allows for it, so I do not have to go borrowing one and cutting it close like this.

I'm glad everything worked out. Big sigh of relief. I was much more concerned for your bacteria and water movement than the temperature dip. The Caribbean surf temperature will regularly dip to 70 in the dead of winter and the organisms adapt.
