i thought i would post this since it has helped me during power outages. i used my old battery backup from my computer and hooked all my tanks to it. i have 2 tanks set up on it with 2 HOB filters and Rena XP3 canister filter. i also have a hood lid on one tank and a coral life light on the other with 4 powerheads runing. it runs for about a hour and a half and saves my tanks during the power outages. just a thought for anyone who has these problems.

Hi. I bought a power pack with a built in inverter for power outages. I live in a rural area with lots of trees so power outages are more common than in the city. I haven't actually tried it yet, but what it basically is is a sealed battery that has a built in inverter. It has enough power that it will power my tank, it has 3 120V outlets that can be plugged into as well as a light, radio etc. It also has booster cables so that if the power is out for longer periods of time, i can hook onto other car/boat batteries that we have here for other things to prolong battery power. It also can be charged up in the car via the cigarette lighter. All in all i think it will work well, and it's portable and convenient to use. It's one more option to hold your fish over until the power comes back on.
