I was thinking that maybe to set up my new tank it would be a goiod idea if I pored aqua cycle on my external filter media?

After all, that is where the bacteria developes and why waste time by diluting it in the water when you could just give your media a shot of bacteria???

Any reasons not to?
Answers on a postcard. :D

Is aquacycle a shelved product or a refridgerated one? The ones that are kept cool (ala Biospira) seem to have some benefit, although not as much as actual established media, but the ones that are room temp on the shelf do nothing at all in my experience.

Its shelved.

In the end I decided to make a syphon coming froma jug with a ltr of lank water and a dose of aqua cycle and fed it straight into my filter intake?
Dont know if it will help any but its worth a try.

I did a water change in my other tank and then poured that water into my new tank then got some gravel from my old tank and swished it around my filter intake.

I suppose I'll c what happens. :S

I have a friend that owns a fish shop and he says there is no such thing as a bacteria in a bottle. Wouldnt waste the time or the money with that stuff.

I know most of the LFS owners pretty well, if i ever need to cycle a new tank i just ask them for some of there filter media and gravel. You could offer to buy some it would probs be cheaper than buying some of the so called cycling products.
