Stunning peacock once more Ryan. What is the fish in the background?

Thanks man. It's a Deep Water Haplochromis.

Here is my pride and joy, a little platinum angelfish I can't decide on a name for:

And his little buddy, Mango.  It's funny, I just got Mango as a less expensive buddy for the platinum, but he has quickly become my favorite with his very bossy, yet lovable angelfish personality despite the fact that he's the smallest angel I've ever seen

My current betta, Little Blue:

Ryan10, what kind of camera do you use and what settings are best for fish photos?  I consider myself to be pretty good at taking pictures of dogs and such but have always struggled to get decent aquarium pics

I use a Nikon d3200.  I shoot manual and I am still learning.  Right now my settings are all over the place.   I do like to use a fast shutter speed.  For every picture I have posted there is probably another 20 that got deleted

.  The biggest help with my pics is Adobe light room.   With light room I can remove bubbles and darken the background.  It's worth it for fish pics.  I also paint my tank background black.  It helps the colors standout on the fish.

I have a Nikon d5100. Lightroom is a little bit out of my price range unfortunately but I've been messing around with some of the less expensive editing software. Do you find it easier to use a big lens and increase the zoom or to get really close with a smaller lens? I've noticed recently that my fish tend to act more normal when I'm sitting across the room, haha.

I usually use my 18-55mm and get pretty close.  I mostly have pics of my cichlids because they always swim up to me to beg for food.

I have a hard time trying to get a good pic of my angels.  This is the best I've got of one of them.   I think because they are so skinny it's hard to focus.

Another pic of my eret goby cichlid.  He is the most willing to get his picture taken.

I love how you guys are using Nikons and such while I'm still using my phone's camera. Great pictures to both of you
