I picked up a honey gourami from Petsmart about a week and a half ago and have noticed that every time I look at this guy, he's got a string of poo hanging out of him. I mean, I did a water change maybe four days ago and had to do another today because the one side of the tank was littered with poo. I wouldn't say it's hair-like, maybe more around the thickness of fishing line, and it's more of a gray color. I read that this could possibly be an internal infection? Is this something that is treated easily or would I be best off just taking him back to Petsmart before my two weeks are up? He's looked healthy to me, swims non-stop and eats fine, though he is really skittish.

I'm not an expert on honey gourami's but I read on a different forum that they poo a lot so I believe that is normal. For the color, my fish has different colors all the time depending on what they eat. So I would say your fish is perfectly healthy from what you have explained :)

Well, It's good to hear he's probably normal, but it's kind of annoying that this guys a poo monster lol. Was hoping to pick up a second but if this one makes this much mess I don't think I'd want to try two.

Well you could just be over feeding as well depending on the size of your tank. If you have a small tank then yeah getting another one would be a bad idea. But if you have a large tank then maybe your over feeding a bit?

I have a 60 gallon that I use to have a lot of fish in so I would feed a couple pinches of fish food at least once a day because I thought a lot of fish needs a lot of food and that caused my tank to get really dirty really quickly.

They are poo factory most of the time my honey have some poo going out of then, is really annoying but that's how the are.

It's only my honey and 4 black neons in my 29g and if anything, the honey might be getting a bit underfed because I only put in one small pinch every other day and the neons destroy it. My honeys too busy looking at plants to notice the food lol. I'm guessing these guys are just poo factories then.

Wow they are then lol. Well you could always get them a bigger tank or maybe add more to the filtration.. Thats what i would do.
