Hi, im helping someone to treat a sick parrot fish in her place.

Hes in a very small tank, arounfd 30 liter where he s been for the past year.

nitrates were extremely high, around 300ppm, now after alot of WC its around 100 and we will continue to decrease it next days.

the tank is cycled ,thers filter and air stone and temp is 28.

Around 10 days ago he started to lose color and around a week ago hi anus start to pertrude. 2 days afterward he stopped eating and started to act distressed breathing fast and hanging alot near the surface.

Im trying to think whats the best course of action. beacuse he is in a bad shape i dont think WC alone will be enough and i think a medical treatment is needed.. i dont know if i should treat with and antibiotic or antiparasitic.

What do you think? does it really look like a prolapse to you?

Looks like one, that fish is very sad/sick.

Preform large water changes. (At LEAST 70% each day) You need to get some sort of instant cycle formula. (I’m pretty sure Seachem makes their Seachem Stability)

Look for a bigger tank, seriously... that fish needs a much bigger tank. If you person who is “taking care of it” can’t find a bigger tank, give it away to someone who will.

Not OP's fish, so sadly can't really provide a larger tank or just give it away, especially not in that condition. My guess would be dropsy but it would be hard to cure in such a small tank as it's already very stressed. But if you managed to move it into a bigger tank, antibiotics and epsom salt baths are key. Good water quality through good water changes may help slightly but at this stage may have little result. Hopefully its just constipation or similar.

after hell get better its setteled that we will move him to a biger tnk. right now do you think it will be good to move him? i can arrange a 120L tank for now.. im just thinking that in the current conditon the move can cause more stress

It would be worth the risk as long as the parameters are similar and it isn't too large of a move

His anus is now more out then it was.. treatment so far was epsom alt baths, kanaplex and levamisole
