Just noticed this whiteish growth on my angels mouth. Can someone please confirm what it is and what the best treatment would be?

Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 80ppm

Not sure what it is. Is the angel eating and acting good? What else is in the tank?

the angel is acting a bit 'quiet' and spending most of the time in the same spot.

There's nothing in the tank that's a threat. Has been happily in there for many months.

It does not look like an injury, but a growth of some form that's pushing outwards from the side of the mouth.

I've been looking at the pics and it doesn't look like a fungus. It's kind of hard to tell. My first thought was it might be caused by two fighting angels. Mine used to lip lock and roll, so I thought maybe that is what happened, but I guess not if there aren't any other angels in the tank.

agree. I've been looking at fungus pics and they are mainly 'fluffy' and not as well defined as this growth. Got some better head on pics....

Could it be lymphocytis?

That's a better pic. But now it doesn't look like fungus or a mouth injury. I wish I could be more help. I don't have any idea what it is. My best guess isn't even very good... some kind of tumor. Sorry.

Could it be lymphocytis?

hmmm, just searched that (not pleasant viewing) and some of the images COULD be the same thing.

read a good article on it, if it is lymphocytis then I'd be quite pleased (seems benign and rarely leathal) but would just need to quarantine for 4 weeks until it runs its course.

I'm certain it's not mouth fungus. I'm going through that battle right now and it looks nothing like yours at all. Thank goodness for you!

It looks pretty pink, so I doubt it's fungus. But if it is an injury then there is a chance of secondary infection. If your water stats are good and have been for the months running up to this, then I would continue the good water quality and watch to see if feeding habits change. If you have a mature isolaton tank, that's handy. But if not then dont rush to seperate just yet. Lymphocystis can't be treated but can spread to other fish, however, this could really be anything, and it's suddenness and colour suggests injury to me. Inspect your fish for signs elsewhere on its body that could give us more of a clue if its bacterial/fungal.

Ive personally had more success not seperating a fish and using stress-reducing water treatments and salts then I have using medication in an isolation tank.

I think you might be right about it being an injury. I kept an eye on it over the weekend and it has shrunk considerably.
