hey guys! I just bid on this male Blue Marble OHM guy. (havent won him yet! but am hopeful!) He was bred by AquaBid breeder Chaba (i assume hes also the photographer of the 3 images below). I think he might just make a great pair with my favorite female.

please let me know what you think~ this couple are in no way related. thanks!

I think he's beautiful, but I have a question for you. :)
Who took the photos, and do you have permission from the photographers to post them elsewhere on the internet? There's a pretty serious discussion going on in the arts section of fishforums.net about copyrights. You really do need the photogropher's permission to use those images, and you need to credit the photographer for the images. I'm sure if you drop him an email, he'll give you permission, and tell you to whom you should give artistic credit. If s/he doesn't, it's not legal (nor is it appropriate) for you to post them here.

With or without the images... good luck on your bidding! :)

Unless they're saying the fish is theirs, it can't be really copyrighted, or I'm sure somewhere in the 23 pages of The Best Of Aquabid someone would have been busted. Don't make a big deal out of it. He also said who he was bred by, meaning, he gives artistic credit. Personally, I think they are beautiful.

The image can be and is copyrighted, at least according to the information on this site. Without permission of the artist/owner, it's illegal, not to mention in poor taste. Period. Effectively, without permission, it's the same as a theft. We're all very concerned with doing the right thing here; it is not right to do what's right for ourselves and not take into consideration what's proper, legal, and rght (by law, no less) for others.

And yes... they are beautiful.

They're posted on aquabid. Free to be ooged by everybody. If he wants to be morally right, he should add a link to the auction if he'd rather. Saying this fish was his would be violating copyright orders, but posting it on a website, blatantly saying who on aquabid sold it, and that he bidded on it, is more of free advertisement for the seller.

There. No more copyright problems. There's the auction. Now can we please get back on topic?

lol ok...back to the questions. i'd prefer an answer from a breeder of some kind. or a person who knows alot about genetics..

SO... if the male in question is bred with the female pictured. will this pair yield beautiful/breed worthy fry???

thanks

James

i wont pretend to know much in the way of genetics, but i think they will produce very nice fry in f1 spawn. possibly even better ones in f2 spawn if you decide to proceed with the line yourself. they are both very lovely fish id give them a shot either way i dont think you can go wrong with them.

From personal experience, Chaba is a great breeder to buy from. You might want to ask Chaba if he has a female from the same spawn available (he usually does).

Yes! the auction is for a brother/sister pair! I'm just keeping my options open until i see the sister pair!

Wow, beautiful fish! I'm always too paranoid to buy from out of the country, but they always have the prettiest fish! Make sure to let us know how it goes if you win the auction.

Oooo, he is really really pretty! When I was choosing Stan today there was a similarly coloured one to that, but I liked Stans vivid red, so I went for him. Besides, he looked one hell of allot healthier.

That boy is really something! What is that colouration called? I have only been a Betta owner for about 4 hours, so I don't know a thing about them!
