Possible 4Ft Tank!

Can you not re-silicon the tank woody?

You could break it down and re silicon it from scratch. But it depends on the state of the glass. If it's scratched and knocked around probably not worth it. If it's in good condition but just dirty it probably is. Breaking down and re siliconing a tank isn't much fun though :)

To be honest guys I don't think it's worth trying to re silicon it. I mean the guy built it himself and my little boys plastic play tools are probably better than his ones. His diy skills are shocking! Even steptoe & son would've turned their noses up at it.

Nah!, this tank is only worth a visit to Davy jones's locker!

I'll just have to wait until a bargain 6footer shows up! Lol

There is a 6foot local to me with everything with it not too expensive either

Cheers for that bud and it seems a fair price too but it's somebody else's creation/setup.

Designing, picking your equipment and setting up yourself is half the fun of a fish tank as it's your own creation and nobody else's.
I'd feel like I've just bought it to rent it an look after it for him.

Nah, I just want a 6ft glass tank with no holes, or anything so I can build it myself an make it my own.

Thanks for looking tho mate. It's appreciated! :good:

You need one like mine :D £50 for a 6foot tank, stand and lid with lighting but I replaced that :D Bargain! Even with the courier picking it up :D haha

are you 100% certain you're not gonna give it a go at at least trying to repair it, surely it's worth at least 1 attempt woody, i know i would give it a go. but if you defo dont want it i might be tempted into a little jaunt down t'M6 in my freelander :hey:

Guys, if you saw the state of the guy that apparently built it you wouldn't waste your time trying to fix it trust me!

Next time I see something that has been put out for scrap I'll remember its just that!................scrap!

Ok...I'll give it one attempt!.............but if I see as much as moisture on the outside of the seal then I'll use the tank as target practice for my air pistol! Lol

but woody, you are not that guy..... i have faith in you being able to fix this thing, i disassembled a 4 footer myself in less than 30 minutes last night using nowt but a craft knife. but wear gloves

Cheers bud but it's not the re sealing of it that worries me, it's the glass itself taking all that weight of water and then LR and substrate on top.
The glass isn't anything special and is only 5mm thick! I just wouldn't trust it tbh.

In all honesty I wouldn't either! You could use the glass for the baffles in the sump so they don't completely go to waste! :D

I wouldn't trust 5mm glass either mate! Personally I'd wait it out and get a bargain when it appears, can be a waiting game this marine lark but most definitely worth it :)
