Milne Edwards 1837) population from south-central Chile, has been studied. The hypothesis states that habitat heterogeneity, expressed as the spatial distribution of hard bottoms along the population’s habitat, interferes with the northward dispersal of adult cohorts from the nursery ground and, therefore, has an effect on the spatial distribution of egg density and production, an effect that can be positive or negative for population renewal."
